China - Northwest China - Postage Stamps
1946 - 1949

⚔ Northwest China Liberated Area ⚔

🏛 The stamps of Northwest China belong to the final years before the People’s Republic, when Communist-controlled border regions in Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia and nearby areas maintained their own postal systems under difficult wartime conditions.

📯 These issues are closely linked with the Yan’an base and the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region. Designs such as the Yan’an Pagoda were practical symbols of the revolutionary postal network rather than decorative state propaganda.

📫 For collectors, Northwest China material is fascinating because printing was often local and modest: coarse paper, uneven impressions, imperforate or rouletted forms, and emergency values reflect the unstable currencies and changing administrations of 1946–1949.

⭐ Genuine use, cancellations, paper, gum, overprints and reprints deserve careful study. These stamps are small witnesses to the transition from regional liberated-area posts into the unified national postal system of 1949.
