— ENGLISH —
⛰ Lübeck was the great Hanseatic city of the Baltic, a free city whose trade, shipping and postal connections reached far beyond its modest size.
📯 Its own postage stamps began on 1 January 1859 and used the city arms: the double-headed eagle, with values in Lübeck Courant schilling.
📫 The issues of 1859–1865 are classic German States material, with small-format designs, local currency, and many details of paper, shade and printing to study.
⭐ For collectors, Lübeck is a compact but serious field: attractive stamps, short postal history, and enough reprints and forgeries to make careful comparison important.
— DEUTSCH —
